About Us

An Overview:

Please see our “About the Program” page for information about the “Teens Using Drugs” program. The "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" program was developed by Ronald E. Harrison in 1999, and was presented by Ron until Ron’s death in April 2011. Dawn Farm is continuing this program in the 2011 – 2012 school year and hopefully beyond. The program is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston and Washtenaw Regional Coordinated School Health Program Council, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Greenbrook Recovery Center

A Thank-you to Our Supporters:

We'd like to thank ALL the people who make this program possible!  Ron Harrison developed this program and contributed his time and expertise to present this workshop series as a community service from the program inception in 1999 until June 2011. Ron was an extraordinarily generous, dedicated, talented and wonderful person and is deeply missed.  Nancy Quay, LMSW provided expert back-up on the evenings Ron was unavailable to present, sometimes on short notice. Dawn Farm has stepped up to enable this program to continue, with Dawn Farm and Growth Works staff providing their expertise for the 2011 – 2012 presentations. Matt Statman, LLMSW, CADC; Dawn Farm therapist and Education Series coordinator presented the series in June 2011 will be one of the presenters for the 2011 – 2012 series programs.  Dawn Farm, the Livingston and Washtenaw Regional Coordinated School Health Program Advisory Council, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Greenbrook Recovery Center co-sponsor the program, and provide support and assistance.   Allegra Print & Imaging of Saline, Michigan has for several years been generous in helping us with our printing needs, including copying of handout materials for program participants.  Huron Valley Community Network (HVCN) provides web hosting for our web site along with patient technical support whenever we have needed help with this web site. Many service providers have contributed printed materials. Our past volunteer Don and long-term volunteer Rob have provided highly proficient audiovisual support, and take care of everything that needs to be taken care of to ensure all goes smoothly on the evenings of the presentations. To the numerous young people in recovery who have shared their stories, their experience, their strength and their hope with our part two audiences – hope is a wonderful gift, thank you for sharing yours! Thank you to the hundreds of parents, family members, teens, professionals, and people in our community who attended past programs and provided feedback that has helped this program improve, evolve and grow in being a useful resource for people in our community.  Every contribution to this program is part of its success in assisting people to learn how they can help substance-involved teens.  We're very grateful to all who have provided and are providing support!
